The province of Golestan is located in the north of the Alborz Mountain and east of the Caspian Sea.

It is a vast land of steppe highly developed in modern agriculture.

The city of Gonbad-e Kavus contains one of Iran's most interesting ancient monuments, dates back to 1628, in which the 51 m tower was built by order of Qabus- ebn- e voshmgir.
